For the third summer, the College of Chemistry participated in "Experience Berkeley" (EB), an outreach project funded by the Office of Admissions. This summer 100 public high school students from the Los Angeles area visited the campus and experienced the on-campus life. They lived in the dorms and attended writing classes and various workshops that included information on the U.C. application process.

Additionally, EB participants visited the College of Chemistry to participate in lectures and lab experiments guided by graduate and undergraduate students from the chemistry and chemical engineering departments.

The College of Chemistry students who participated in Summer 2003 Experience Berkeley were chemical engineering graduate student Nerayo Teclemariam of Professor Susan Muller's group, chemistry B.A student Michael Goodblatt, and spring 2003 B.S. Chemistry majors Carolina Carvalho and Jamie Ellis.
