Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Library
The Chemistry Library is now the Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Library. The new name more accurately reflects the focus of the library, and is especially helpful for users who are not familiar with the organizational structure of the College of Chemistry. To acknowledge the new name, the library's web page has a new image on its homepage a cyano-bridged cluster of [(THF)18(H2O)6Ni9Re6(CN)48] courtesy of Professor Long. (http://www.lib.berkeley.edu/CHEM/)

EXCHANGE Your Xerox Cards by October 1st
All the libraries on campus have switched from Xerox to Cannon for their public copy machines. If you have copy cards from Xerox you need to exchange them for Cannon cards by October 1st. After the 1st, Cannon will not give you any credit for value on the Xerox cards. A blank Cannon card is 75 cents, so even if you have very low value on a card, it might be worth it to you to go ahead and exchange the card. You can exchange cards at the copy center in Doe or the copy center in the Bioscience Library. The discounted rate for students, staff and faculty for photocopying is 10 cents a page. The public pays 15 cents. If you use the library's print service, then the cost is 13 cents a page for everyone.

College Copy Machine in the Library
The College now has just one copy machine in the library for your use with your College card. It is the large one on the main floor. The upstairs machine will be removed. This decision was made because copy volume has decreased sufficiently that two machines are no longer justified financially, and the upstairs machine is so old that parts are difficult to acquire. The library staff will be closely monitoring the operation of the one remaining copy machine to see if this machine is actually meeting our needs. Please report any problems to the circulation desk so we can accurately assess the situation.

UC-eLinks Single Citation Linker
Do you want a quick and easy way to link to the full text of a journal article when all you have is a citation? Try the new UC-eLinks Single Citation Linker http://ucelinks.cdlib.org:8888/citation/sfx_local. You don't have to fill in all the fields to link to full-text access. If full text is not available, you can link to the MELVYL record to locate the print journal, and if the journal is not at UCB, you can request it from interlibrary loan. The linker also works for other types of material such as books and videos.

Have You Lost Your Easy Data Forms?
Does your installation of CrossFire no longer display the Easy Data Forms? If so, email me (mmahoney@library.berkeley.edu) and I will send you the files for the new forms. There has been an upgrade on the server, and old installations may not be displaying the forms. New installations should be ok.

URL Change for BioKnowledge Library
Incyte.com updated their website as of July 16th, and as part of this process, the URL for the BioKnowledge Library was changed to http://proteome.incyte.com. Our access has not been interrupted by this change.

Reminder -- Current Contents to be Cancelled
Current Contents will be cancelled at the end of 2004 because of budgetary restraints. The information in Current Contents is duplicated in Web of Science so there should be no loss of access to any information, but there is the inconvenience of learning a new system. However, Web of Science has a new user-friendly interface and actually offers more features, including citation analysis, than does Current Contents. Web of Science even allows you to run current awareness alerts. If you have alerts running in Current Contents, be sure to set them up in Web of Science before the end of December. A guide to creating Alerts in Web of Science is at http://www.cdlib.org/inside/instruct/WoKAlerts1.doc.
A quick link to Web of Science is http://isiknowledge.com/wos.
