Professor Carolyn Bertozzi

Professor Carolyn Bertozzi has been selected as the 2009 recipient of the Harrison Howe Award, chosen by the Rochester Section of the American Chemical Society. Bertozzi is the T. Z. and Irmgard Chu Distinguished Professor of Chemistry and Professor of Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of California, Berkeley.

The award — dedicated to the memory of Harrison E. Howe, a chemist, editor, and author who co-founded the ACS Rochester Section — was established to recognize a scientist who has made outstanding contributions to chemistry or closely related fields and who shows great potential for further achievement. Michael Marletta, current chair of the Department of Chemistry and the Aldo DeBenedictis Distinguished Professor and Joel Hildebrand Distinguished Professor of Chemistry, received this award in 2004.

The award will be presented October 1, 2009, at the University of Rochester Medical School. For more details regarding the award ceremony visit the Rochester Section ACS website at http://www.chem.rochester.edu/howe/current.php
