UC Berkeley presents Cal Science & Engineering Festival

POSTPONED DUE TO WEATHER. NEW EVENT DATE TBA. Please check back! UC Berkeley is hosting a science and engineering festivalon Saturday, October 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The free outdoor event will take place at Spieker Plaza, located next to Haas Pavilion.

The community-oriented festival highlights science in action. More than 15 campus units will be represented, from astronomy to vertebrate zoology. Participants can put solar power to the test, examine fossils, investigate dry ice and liquid nitrogen and create an earthquake.

Berkeley scientists will be on hand to explain the excitement and wonder of the science they do. Hands-on chemistry activities will be conducted by College of Chemistry grad students. For details and updates on Festival activities, check out http://scienceatcal.berkeley.edu/festival.

The Cal Science & Engineering Festival is sponsored by the UC Berkeley Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and is presented in conjunction with the USA Science & Engineering Festival—the country’s first national science festival (www.usasciencefestival.org/), which will take place on the National Mall in Washington, DC, on Oct. 23-24.
