Chemistry professor Ting Xu has received a Camille Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Award from the Camille and Henry Dreyfus Foundation. A Berkeley associate professor, Xu holds a joint appointment in chemistry and materials science and engineering. She also is a faculty scientist in the materials sciences division at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.

The award provides unrestricted grants of $75,000 to young chemists, biochemists, and materials scientists with a body of important work and a demonstrated commitment to education, especially of undergraduates.

Established in 1946 by chemist, inventor and businessman Camille Dreyfus as a memorial to his brother Henry, the foundation became a memorial to both men when Camille Dreyfus died in 1956. Throughout its history the foundation has sought to take the lead in identifying and addressing needs and opportunities in the chemical sciences.
